Spray Drying
Spray Drying is a process by which liquid flavors or plant extracts are converted into dry particulate for applications that require dry powder extracts rather than liquid ones. Spray drying has distinct advantages over other types of drying techniques as:
- Manufacturing capacity and volumes can be easily controlled;
- Many types of spray drying absorbents can be chosen to best achieve customers’ demands;
- Short processing time;
- The process can handle many types of feed stock (solution, emulsion, suspension, slurry paste, gel, or liquid); and
 - Highly precise controls over particle size, density and degree of crystallinity.

Micro Encapsulation
Flavors and fragrances can be adversely impacted by processes that rely on direct heat and evaporation, or oxidation through contact with air. To prevent degradation of the aroma molecules, droplets of the flavors and fragrances are captured in small modified starch capsules before drying in a spray dryer. TCFF manufacturing services include both typical spray drying methods, and micro-encapsulation prior to spray drying.
